PACE Investigative Interviewing (level 2)
Conducting a PACE Interview is a key part of any Enforcement duties. All enforcement staff involved in PACE Interviews must understand and comply with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and its associated Codes of Practice. All information, evidence and intelligence obtained during an investigation needs to be put to the suspect in a structured and effective way.
Who should attend?
All staff that undertake PACE Interviews, including any staff that could take the second officers role.
Course Aim
To give delegates the knowledge and skills to confidently conduct a well structured, fact-finding PACE Interview compliant with PACE.

- Overview of Code C and Code E
- Use of the PACE Caution both on site and in the interview room
- Correct use of contemporaneous notes (and notebooks where used)
- Effective planning and preparation for the interview using the PEACE interviewing model
- Use of timelines and aide memoirs
- Conversation Management Techniques
- Appropriate interviewing techniques
- Role and responsibilities of the second officer
- Dealing with Legal Representatives including pre-interview disclosure
- Implications of oppression during the interview
- The correct use of audio recording equipment
- Duty of care to vulnerable customers
- Role and responsibilities of third parties – Friends, interpreters, appropriate adults etc.
- Realistic Mock interviews using a case study and Interviewee supplied by Aquila

2 Days (3 days if delivered with the 1 day PACE (Codes C and E)
