Giving Evidence in Court

It is important that anyone appearing as a witness in Court has the confidence to give their evidence fairly and accurately.  The confidence, credibility and professionalism of those attending Court may be affected if they are unaware of Court procedures and the questioning process, particularly if they are cross-examined by a hostile defence lawyer.  


Who should attend?

Anyone who may be called as a witness to give evidence in a Court of Law.


Course Aim

To enable delegates to have an understanding of Court procedures, the questioning process and to be able to give evidence confidently and professionally. 


Topics covered

  • Court layout, procedures, etiquette and the roles of court personnel
  • Contempt of Court
  • The role and responsibilities of witnesses
  • The role and responsibilities of the prosecution
  • The role of the defence and possible tactics during cross-examination.
  • Demonstrate the ability to give accurate and factual evidence in a fictional case (provided as a case study by Aquila).
